Pearson's Town Farm Midway Celebration

Midway Celebration

Sponsored by Pearson's Town Farm at Saint Joseph's College

The end of July marks the midway point of the traditional farming season. Come visit the farm on Saturday, July 31, 2010 to celebrate summer in the garden. Take a leisurely stroll around the farm; spend time with the free range poultry, sheep, and llama, and get your hands dirty as you work with the staff and discuss farming.

Different sessions for the day include:

11:00am - Square Foot and Raised Bed Gardening with Sue Kelly
1:00 pm - Home Composting - talk about what works and doesn't work in a home composting pile
2:00pm - Planting for an Autumn Harvest - discuss strategies for productive autumn planting and harvesting

The kinder-garden will be open for kids to play, harvest, and continue the search for the bottom of the popular bottomless mud pit!

Free snacks are provided and produce will be available for sale.

The Midway Celebration will run from 11am to 3pm at the Pearson's Town Farm at 289 Whites Bridge Road in Standish (at the former Gowen Estate across the street from the college).
